"Through" – Romans 5
Brian and I are currently preaching through Romans, and I get to cover chapter 5. It’s been a challenge to cover a chapter a week, especially from this thick, rich work. I think we’re doing okay, though.
As I was studying chapter 5, I kept noticing how frequently the word “through” showed up. By my count, at least 14 times. The word signifies the vehicle or mechanism by which something else occurs. Examples, we’re justified through faith, reconciled through Jesus death, receive grace through righteousness, etc. After making a list of all the uses of “through”, I decided to do a graphical layout to see if there was any overlap. Here’s my work for you to share. Not sure if it is any help, but I like to see the visual layout.
To read the chart, you read “through” backwards along an arrow. For example, the portion directly above this should read “Saved through life”.
