Things that make today great

I figured I’d just start off by listing some things I’m really excited about.  These are ways that God is blessing our lives that have me all full of joy today.

  • God is sending us workers for Arlington Church of Christ!  Attendances is up 33% from a year ago and is at 7 year high!  Our Thursday Night Coffee House (soon to be Coffee House Ministries) has grown from 6 people to 28, all of them newcomers to ACOC!
  • My kids have finished another year of school.  Almost, anyway.  There’s still eight days left.  Our oldest son was honored for receiving all A’s and B’s this year, for being Student of Year in 7th grade Spanish, and was inducted in the National Junior Honor Society.
  • I finished a goal of running 100 miles this year.  That may not seem like much to some of you, but it is a major milestone for me.  Check out my cool Nike Certificate.
  • My mom had breast cancer for about two weeks.  It wasn’t a blessing that she had cancer, of course, but rather that it was removed and treated as quickly as it was.  They removed the lump and found no trace of cancer any where else, not even in the lymph nodes.  Today she starts radiation, but it will be delivered specifically to the site of the lump meaning that she’ll have five days of treatment this week and will be done with it.  Prognosis is something like 97% chance of no recurrence or something crazy like that.

I’m sure there’s more, but this will do for now.  Let us know how God has blessed your life this week.

    My blessings:

Although the mid-south temperatures are gearing up, as one weather forecaster said, “it’s a dry heat,” so cool breezes have blown in my face lately on my early morning walks! What a blessing for this time of year. Usually by now, you could fry an egg on the sidewalk by 8 a.m.! On these same walks, the birds have been especially cheerful, singing me lots of tunes, and when I get back to the house, our pet squirrels (really!) greet me as if they were cats. They’re so cute, scampering around the yard. Such beauty all around!

I saw my brother, who has many health problems including advanced dementia, yesterday. He’s had to take a side trip out of the nursing home to the hospital………..but his face still registers recognition when he sees me! One day, I won’t have that blessing, but yesterday I did. It’s great when someone is truly happy to see you!

Like you said, there are many others…….but that’s enough for one comment. 🙂

Hey Brad. This is a test, as you requested. My original comment is there. If you didn’t plug it in for me, it went on through the first time……….but we’ll see about this one! Have a nice day.

1.) I must count our small group expansion as one of my blessings as well! I am excited about our cookout this week. I was telling my mom this weekend that I finally feel like I’m home when I’m at ACOC. Haven’t had that feeling since high school, so it’s nice.

2.) Yesterday I was offered a position as an official federal employee. Same job, better benefits. And my boss approved my time off for our 1st anniversary vacation to Paris this fall!

3.) The rain caused the Old Guard Twilight Tattoo to be canceled so Joe doesn’t have to work late tonight! 😀

Certainly things to be counted as blessings! Especially your mom’s situation.
